Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond.
Surprise! Universal has just released the full Jurassic World trailer online for everyone to see. Director Colin Trevorrow tweeted, “Due to circumstances beyond our control, the park will be opening early.” And just minutes later the first, complete look at the highly, highly anticipated sequel officially premiered on YouTube.
Here’s the basic plot, as seen in the trailer: Business is doing well enough at Jurassic World, but well enough isn’t always good enough and so the company that now runs the theme park decides to breed a genetically modified dinosaur. In the words of Chris Pratt’s character, who plays a zoologist at the park, “You just went and made a new dinosaur? Probably not a good idea.”
What’s great about this trailer is that it really does share the same spirit of Steven Spielberg’s original. First it wows you with sheer spectacle, then the terror sets in. And that slow, eerie new take on John Williams’ iconic score (by Michael Giacchino)? Just perfect.
